The film you are about to see is going to give you the education you need to be able to grow your own "amazing" vegetables. If you're not already a gardener you only need the decision to do what you are about to see being done. If you are already a gardener, I think you will enjoy seeing what I do in my little garden... and I'd love to see what you can do in yours!
Urban Gardens are getting the attention they deserve- Finally! We, as a nation, are led to believe we're running out of crop land, that it's all being used up for subdivisions and urban sprawl. Havana, Cuba, at one time, grew and possibly still does, 80% of the vegetables consumed in Havana, within the city limits. They used their back yards, front yards, vacant lots, any land that was available, to plant their own food. That is the full meaning of true urban gardning. I converted my entire front yard and back yard, in the city of Los Angeles, into organic garden beds 26 years ago. The surface of those beds is about 500 square feet. We may spend up to $10 a month on some organic vegetable we want that I don't have growing, canned, or in the freezer. And still we have so much over production that we give friends and neighbors more than half of it. Benefits of an urban garden: 1. Eating vegetables that have not been picked over by other shoppers 2. No waiting in line at the grocery check out 3. No need to remove the skin (shich contains most of the nutrient content) for fear of poisoning yourself or your family with e-coli 4. Go in your own back yard, pick vegetables that were not grown with chemicals and pesticides, rinse them off and prepare for your dinner. I could go on for some pages, but you get the idea. Most people, even apartment dwellers, can find some space, somewhere, to start growing some of their own food. If we were serious about our love of nature, our desire to save the planet, our repulsion with some areas of our food supply, we as a nation, could and should set an example for the world to follow through our own urban garden. There's no money in good health. The big money is in sick care, posing as "health care." If we fixed our food supply we wouldn't have a real or imagined "health care crisis." We can make ourselves well, our environment cleaner, and enjoy getting some productive and meaningful exercise. I'm happy to help you with your urban garden! My DVD's will show you how, and I'll answer any questions you might have. leeohara@sbcglobal.net
